Get The Skin-Ny On Vitamin D
We often focus on the benefits of Vitamin D for the bones and the immune system, but vitamin D does play a vital role in skin health. Conversely, lack of vitamin D is associated with skin disease. In a recent study of data derived from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), data from 500 patients with psoriasis was analyzed. Researchers found a linear relationship between severity of psoriasis and vitamin D levels; the lower the vitamin D, the more severe the psoriasis.
In fact, the latest dermatology research shows that vitamin D plays a role in many skin diseases, including atopic dermatitis, acne, certain skin cancers and many more. Vitamin D can benefit everyone’s skin. In fact, vitamin D is synthesized in the skin but most people don’t get enough vitamin D. Worldwide, as many as 50 percent of people – in all age groups — are deficient in vitamin D. There are many reasons for this, but the two main reasons are lack of sunlight and lack of vitamin D in the diet. Certain medical conditions or medications prevent the body from properly absorbing and using vitamin D.

Biomedical Tattoos, or implants, being studied for human cancer prevention

Swiss scientists claim they’ve developed a new, modern way to detect if someone has cancer. What’s being called a “biomedical tattoo” is essentially an implant that turns a dark color when it detects the body is developing cancer symptoms.
The cancer tattoos or implants have been tested in animals. It targets early diagnosis of colon, prostate, lung and breast cancers.
Here’s how it is claimed to work.
When a cancerous tumor begins to grow, typically, calcium will be deposited into the blood. The implant will react to the increased density of calcium and turn a dark brown color, appearing almost like a mole.
“The biomedical tattoo detects all hypercalcemic cancers at a very early, asymptomatic stage,” lead author Martin Fussenegger, Professor at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering at ETH Zurich, told AFP by email.

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.
The last few weeks have been challenging. I’ve been incredibly busy but at the same time, it seems like nothing is moving forward. This particular trial feels like ‘my car’ is sitting in neutral… not moving forward, not moving backward. Simply not moving at all.
As Christians, we know God holds the Master Plan for our life, even when it seems like nothing is happening. This challenges us to trust that HE is happening, even when it seems nothing in our circumstances has changed at all.
Living from a place of ‘knowing’ isn’t always easy. In fact, it’s sometimes flat-out hard to trust that God really has a Plan…and we have to wait. We have to stand in neutral. We would rather slam the gas pedal to the floor, screech the tires on the pavement… and drive 100 mph to get somewhere.

The Full Story about Zostavax, the Shingles Vaccine

Humans are the only known host for the herpes varicella-zoster virus (VZV) that causes chickenpox. A very benign infection in the vast majority of children, chickenpox used to be called a “right of passage” disease, with most kids contracting the infection between the ages of 8 and 12. Recovery left behind lifetime immunity and in little girls, antibodies to be passed to their infants through breast milk later on life.
Vaccinated persons can still contract chickenpox. The so-called “breakthrough infection” occurs in approximately 2 percent of vaccinations per year. That may sound like a small number until you do the math. With nearly 4 million live births per year in the US, 2 percent equates to at least 80,000 cases of breakthrough chickenpox. And even though doctors say the infection will be “less serious” if the child has been vaccinated, severe cases have been reported.
A study released March 2017 examined the incidence of severe breakthrough chickenpox infection. They performed a systematic review of articles published between 1974 and 2016.
