Biblical prophecy occupies a significant portion of Scripture, yet it is one of the subjects that generates the most disagreement, uncertainty, and debate inside the church. Questions about the rapture, Israel, the Tribulation, and the return of Christ continue to divide believers who are reading the same Bible and often drawing very different conclusions from it.
Todd Hampson joins Dr. Tenpenny to discuss The Non-Prophet’s Guide to the Rapture and examine how those differences developed. Drawing from church history and Scripture, Hampson explains the major approaches to interpreting prophecy, why he believes a plain reading of the biblical text points to a pre-tribulation rapture, and how understanding prophecy affects much more than a person’s view of future events.
The conversation moves through the Church Age, Israel’s role in God’s prophetic timeline, the purpose of the Tribulation, and the passages that continue to shape debate among Christians today. Hampson also explains why prophecy once occupied a much larger place in Christian teaching and why he believes its absence has left important pieces of the biblical narrative disconnected from one another.
What emerges is a discussion about context. Scripture begins in Genesis and concludes in Revelation, yet many believers encounter those final chapters without understanding how they connect to everything that came before them. Hampson argues that prophecy was never intended to function as a separate category of theology. It was woven into the larger story from the beginning.
Throughout the interview, Dr. Tenpenny and Hampson return to a central question. If so much of the Bible speaks about God’s plans, promises, and future purposes, how should those passages shape the way believers understand the rest of Scripture today?
