Let’s face it, there are lots of protein shake products out there. The choices can be overwhelming. How do you make the best choice? What is the best protein to bring out your superpowers?
First, you want a complete protein product that has a blend of different proteins to give you all the amino acids you need for healthy muscles. Find one that is easy to digest without producing the uncomfortable bloat that often comes with inferior protein products, and one that is easy for your body to absorb for maximum benefit.
Your protein should be a “clean” product, with no dairy, no soy, no gluten, no GMOs and certain no toxins. Toxic additives can wreak havoc on the gut microbiome, as can protein sources that are hard to absorb. Milk-derived whey proteins or soy derivative products do create health challenges for some individuals. MCTs are medium chain triglycerides, a type of plant fat that is readily converted into usable energy. MCTs help create a feeling of fullness so you’re not craving unhealthy foods. Additives such as digestive enzymes and aloe vera serve as digestive aids to help the protein be absorbed with no side effects.
Last but not least, your protein should be delicious! There’s nothing better than a smooth and satisfying shake as a snack or meal substitute. It should pack the maximum protein into one serving, yet still be low in calories with no added sugar.
