Is Sharia Law Coming to Your American Town?

When one thinks of epic Texas cities, you likely think of Houston, the center for oil and space flight, or San Antonio, the “Remember the Alamo” city with its rich Spanish history. You likely don’t think of an epic city called EPIC, an acronym for the East Plano Islamic Center which is planning a Muslim-centric 402-acre real estate development in the small town of Josephine, right outside of Dallas. The largest mosque in North Texas planned this community and advertised it in a now-deleted YouTube video in October 2024.

The city plans have 1,000 homes, a K-12 religious school, a mosque and a retail center on the acreage it purchased. The concept actually began in 2018 as a self-governing city of the future. By 2020, public debates had intensified around the self-governed aspects of EPIC which is owned by a private company Epic Systems The city proposal had its own police and fire departments, in effect replacing traditional municipal functions. In 2021, state lawmakers voiced concerns and took up the fight. They initiated legal challenges to halt the project and introduced a bill in the Texas legislature to prevent such private companies from creating their own self-governing cities.

As a result, EPIC has had to fight continuing legal battles and has had to scale back or delay their projects. Activist groups soon joined in to protest the development. The creators of EPIC city say that it is a community open to anyone and that they welcome people of all backgrounds. How many of those non-Muslim people would want to live in a city run by Sharia law (especially women)?

The increasing backlash against EPIC spurred Governor Greg Abbott to sign House Bill 4211 into law in September 2025. The law effectively bans Sharia-based housing developments in Texas. And in March 2026 in the Republican primary, Proposition 10, stating that Texas should prohibit Sharia law, overwhelmingly passed with strong support. Additionally, Texas Senator John Cornyn was successful in convincing Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice to open an investigation into the proposed EPIC City development to look for violations of federal law that if found, Cornyn says should be swiftly prosecuted. In November 2025, Governor Greg Abbott took matters one step further by designating both the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations. This designation authorizes heightened enforcement against both organizations and their affiliates and prohibits them from purchasing or acquiring land in Texas. Abbott says both groups have long made their goal clear of forcibly imposing Sharia law and subverting Texas and US law through violence, intimidation, harassment, and terrorism, and that Texas would have none of it: These radical extremists are not welcome in our state and are now prohibited from acquiring any real property interest in Texas.”
Texas has experienced another notable issue when several Muslims sued the state over its school voucher program deadline of March 31 for not allowing Islamic schools into the program. The group was successful at extending the deadline past March 31, but a judge denied their second attempt. The schools which sued were not added to voucher list over terrorist allegations, which the lawsuit says are unsubstantiated. Ultimately, five schools were added into the program, but not the schools that sued the state. The battle is ongoing with another court hearing set for April 24.

Texas’ Changing Demographic

The Muslim population in Texas has been growing steadily over the past few years, particularly in the greatly expanded Temporary Protected Status (TPS) under the Biden administration, in addition to massive illegal immigration. Those protected under TPS include people from Sudan and South Sudan, Syria, and Afghanistan – all predominantly Muslim nations. Liberals tout it as “demographic changes” and “the increasing diversity of the state’s population”, but there’s one glaring difference from immigrants of the past – these people want Sharia law rather than assimilation into America.

Naturally, Texas has a substantial Christian majority, but the ever-expanding Muslim population is significant, estimated to be around 500,000 people. In addition to the countries above, people are flocking to Texas from Pakistan, India, Egypt, Iran and Iraq.

Houston has the largest Muslim population in the state, and also has many mosques and Islamic centers such as the Islamic Society of Greater Houston (ISGH) and the Masjid Al-Mustafa. Areas including the Houston neighborhoods of Katy, Sugarland and Clear Lake (home of the NASA Johnson Space Center) have large Muslim populations.

The Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex does too, particularly in Plano, Irving, Richardson and Frisco suburbs. One of Texas’ oldest cities, San Antonio, also has a growing Muslim population. The capital city of Austin, perhaps the state’s most progressive city, has the smallest Muslim population but it too is growing. Even El Paso, a town right on the Texas-Mexico border, has a notable Muslim population.

What Happened In Michigan?

We all expect cities like New York to have a significant Muslim population. In fact, NYC has the largest population in the US; it also has the largest Jewish population. It’s no surprise that cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago also have large Muslim populations. Texas is certainly not the only state feeling the onslaught.

Take Michigan for example. A few years ago, I had business travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan. I thought, hey, I’ll go to Detroit, visit the General Motors Renaissance Center headquarters, and go across the Canadian border to do a bit of gambling. While at the GM headquarters for the day, I walked the river boardwalk and finding myself hungry, walked into the neighborhoods about three blocks away for a bite to eat. All—and I mean ALL–the signs were in Arabic only, no English. I literally felt like I was in another country. It was shocking to say the least.

And speaking of Michigan, why does Dearborn, Michigan have such a large Muslim population? It doesn’t really make sense. Before European settlers arrived, the area now known as Dearborn was home to Native Americans like the Wyandot and other tribes. The town of Dearborn was officially founded in 1827 and named after a former U.S. Secretary of War. As with most towns of this era, Dearborn began as a sparsely populated area with settlers primarily focused on farming. Historians try to tell us that the Muslim population there happened organically, when African Americans from the south moved to Ford Motor Company for better jobs. Really? Seriously? I’m not buying it.

Why would immigrants leave their relatively warm (hot) countries to go to Michigan, one of the coldest places in the US? Yes, perhaps they were escaping political and economic instability in their own countries, but there’s something just not right about this. Today, Dearborn has the highest concentration of Muslims in the US relative to its population size—about 110,000 people which equates to 55% of the suburb’s total population—a Muslim majority.

I can’t write this article without mentioning the Somali population in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area of Minnesota. Again, Minnesota was originally settled by rugged Nordic people from Sweden, Finland and Norway—people who absolutely love the cold and who know how to ice fish. So why does this area now have the largest Muslim Somali population in the entire country (around 120,000 people), and how many of them are involved in the massive fraud (daycare and otherwise) against the American taxpayer? I have a friend who has a downtown office in Minneapolis; they get to hear the Muslim call to prayer multiple times a day. I’ve listened to it on speakerphone. It is incredible.

A More Likely Explanation

Here is a more likely explanation to account for the mass influx of immigrants who aim to infiltrate rather than assimilate. It’s a modern version of the Cloward-Piven strategy, proposed in 1966 by sociologists (and Marxists) Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. The strategy involves creating a crisis in the US welfare system by overwhelming it with demand. Biden’s TPS strategy was a great start. We’ve all heard the stories of the benefits, debit cards, and other perks given to these people (while Americans like our war veterans get none of it.) There are even towns where brand new apartments were being built and the TPS immigrants got first pick, with full rent paid by us, the American taxpayer. As if this is not enough, Cloward and Piven likely could have never dreamed about the Somali welfare fraud and grift that puts their original strategy into warp speed overdrive. Their strategy involved getting as many people as possible to sign up for welfare benefits, whether there was need or not. By overwhelming the welfare system and pushing it to unsustainable levels, their philosophy was that political leaders would be forced to expand the welfare state. Think universal welfare, or what we know now as universal basic income.

Their ultimate goal was to radically change the structure of American society to push it to a more socialist system. Ultimately, it would lead to a collapse of the welfare system and increased dependency on the government—so much so that it would harm American society. In short, it is a radical left-wing ideology designed to force adoption of Marxist or socialist principles.
Given all that we are experiencing today, is the Cloward-Piven strategy ringing any bells for you?

Meet Jamie Walden, of Omega Dynamics. Imbued with matchless passion for all things “adventurous” and “fun”, Jamie’s teen years were filled with significant tumult (injuries, arrests, and choices of near life-long consequence). However, amid the rebellion and ruckus, Jamie continually endeavored to one day earn the title, “U.S. Marine”. After being nominated to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Defense, Intelligence, and Diplomacy in Washington, D.C., where he subsequently secured a nomination to the US Naval Academy, Jamie made the determination to simply enlist in the Marine Corps Infantry and achieve his childhood dream.

After leaving the Marines Corps, Jamie obtained a double major B.S. in Law Enforcement and History. Pursuing a career in Federal Law Enforcement, Jamie was selected as an Intern for the United States Marshals Service, and subsequent recruitment to a “Three Letter” agency. It was then, when Jamie received “the call”, that the Lord began testing and affirming the genuineness of his faith.

After again returning to Iraq in 2014 to serve the Christians suffering under the savage campaign of ISIS, Jamie and his wife Virginia were compelled to surrender their paradigm and follow the Lord into full-time ministry.

“The Mission of Omega Dynamics is this: to teach, train and equip “Those with ears to hear” to stand anew in their rightful place as more than conquerors in a kingdom that cannot be shaken…this generation is literally, eternally dying for us to”
