Did China Have Help?

President Trump said votes were “bought, stolen and hacked” in the 2020 election. The word “bought” means there was a buyer in 2020. Who was the seller? Has CCP had help from Americans all this time?

Is the media influenced—monetarily or otherwise? Let’s not forget Carl Bernstein’s 1977 bombshell Rolling Stone investigation citing that more than 400 journalists worldwide had “secretly carried out assignments” for the CIA between 1953–1977. Nearly fifty years has gone by since that report.

As a kid, we only had three TV channels: ABC, CBS and NBC. Whenever the POTUS spoke, all three channels interrupted programming to cover the address to the nation. But not Thursday. ABC, NBC, nor CNN covered Trump’s short talk because they thought it was dangerous to do so. CNN’s Jake Tapper told Americans that CNN hadn’t yet had time to review the declassified documents so CNN would let the American people know when the network had all the information. The arrogance—listen to us and not to the President of the United States.

Make no mistake, there is definitely Chinese influence on the American media—through business relationships, lobbying, influence operations, access to the Chinese market, and more. Did the Chinese influence these networks to not cover POTUS and take the heat off the country’s interference in our elections?

Quite possibly. After all, these major news organizations do maintain bureaus in China. They rely on 
visas that can be restricted by Chinese authorities at any time. So, it’s really not a stretch to think that three major news outlets looked the other way Thursday night.

We already know heavy Chinese influence has occurred in Hollywood and entertainment in general. Studios change dialog and movie content to appeal to the Chinese market. Have you ever seen a Chinese villain? Point made.

Large Chinese state-owned outlets like CGTN, China Daily and Xinhua purchase advertising in US newspapers, and there is well-known and long-documented PRC influence over social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and X (Twitter). The PRC inserts narratives critical of US policy and even had a heavy influence on the COVID-19 messaging. They’ve also made significant investments in movie production, streaming operations, and gaming.

What Are We To Do?

Fleming says that Americans must become more informed about national security issues. We must, which is difficult to do when your own media restricts you. That’s why we have independent outlets like The Tenpenny Report and Dr. T’s podcasts.

Furthermore, the US must reduce dependence on Chinese-controlled supply chains where practical. Our local communities and civic institutions have been decimated; we must strengthen them. We also must have technological resilience, and that can start with the election voting machines and other technology. Finally, Fleming says Americans should prepare—both personally and financially—for periods of geopolitical instability. Here’s the full podcast of Dr. T’s interview at this link.
