The National Federation of Women Legislators Tenpenny Speech Two

November 22, 2008

Good afternoon.

At my talk this morning, you heard about the large number of vaccines that children receive if all approved vaccines are administered. That information deserves to be repeated: Children will be injected with 69 vaccine antigens (and 15 shots) by the time they are 6 months of age. By the time they enter kindergarten, they will have had a total of 113 vaccine antigens (and up to 30 shots). What health conditions are vaccines contributing to?

All of you are aware of the vaccine-autism "controversy." In my opinion, and in the opinion of tens of thousands of parents, there is no controversy. Even the Federal Court of Claims, referred to as Vaccine Court, is now allowing before and after video recordings, documenting that a child was normal just days before a vaccine was given. Vaccines can cause permanent, irreversible disability. Keep that in mind the next time a new vaccine is considered adding a vaccine to your State's vaccination schedule.

Every vaccine has the potential of doing harm, but some seem to be more harmful than others, such as the hepatitis b vaccine.  Hepatitis b is an adult illness most commonly seen in alcoholics, persons who use injectable street drugs and in homosexual men - not in babies. Nonetheless, the Hepatitis b vaccine is given within the first 48 hours of birth. Adults are injured by this vaccine too because it is advocated for healthcare workers, first responders, and the military - even though the 50% of protective antibodies are gone within 7 years of the shot.

The medical literature documents the following conditions associated with the hepatitis b vaccine: Systemic lupus, reactive arthritis, Kawasaki disease (effecting the blood vessels of the heart); Polyarthritis; Rheumatic disorders; Hearing loss and deafness; Equilibrium damage; Acute Transverse myelitis; Optic neuritis with loss of vision; central nervous system demyelinization and many more.

What are the medical care costs of those diseases? Those dollars remain unaccounted for in the vaccine appropriations. For example, the flu shot has been shown to be no more protective than a placebo in every age group: babies, adults or geriatric population. And yet, state funding for annual flu shots continue. I printed out handouts for you documenting the ineffectiveness of the flu shot. If you want more, let me know and I'll email it to you.

Why did we stop raising money to find the cause? Answer: there's no money in it. You can't build a $500b industry on staying healthy through advocating simple, inexpensive ways to stay health: Eat good food, drink plenty water, get 30 minutes of exercise a day and a few hours of extra sleep each week.

What should State Legislators do?

1. Focus dollars on true prevention…meaning, funding ways to address the CAUSE. For example, mammograms are considered prevention. But mammograms don't prevent cancer: they find cancer. Raising funds for cancer research simply puts more money into the hands of the drug companies to develop a TREATMENT.

2. Stop listening to vaccine lobbiests who push you to approve funding for their drug. Vaccines cost the states millions of dollars. Just because the vaccine has been approved doesn't mean it is safe and doesn't mean we should be forced to get it.

3. Stop approving requirements vaccines as an entry to schools. It is just not right that kids have to be vaccinated with 113 vaccines and 30 shots in order to get an education!

4. License Naturopathic Medical Doctor and Acupuncturist in your states. Low cost providers can bring big time savings and true health to your constituents.

Being a congresswoman is tough. You have opposing factions trying to sway your vote and you often have to make decisions based on limited information. As a woman, trust your instincts. Get as much information as you can. Vaccines can prevent a short term illness but have long term consequences. Hopefully, you will keep that in mind.

Thank you.
