My wife an I are due to have our first child in three months. We just wanted to let you know that watching your CDC Documents video together this Saturday evening was not just informative, but it was assuring and inspiring as well. All of our ten (at least!) future children will be vaccine free. We also wanted to tell you that we are a Catholic family, and we are, to say the least, appalled by the use of aborted fetuses in vaccine development.
Thank you for covering this issue. More importantly, though, thank you for illustrating how vaccinating everyone does not necessarily create a herd immune effect and work to benefit society. As you may very well know, the Catholic Church is aggressively opposed to abortion, but not so opposed to vaccination, despite the fact that it is aware of the utilization of aborted fetuses. Although the Church reconciles this contradiction quite logically, it does so on the false presumption that vaccinations are beneficial to society as a whole. Your work has helped at least our family make informed health, as well as moral and spiritual, decisions in regards to this issue. I have a cousin who got autism from a vaccine reaction. I had the chickenpox vaccine but years later my sisters and I still got chickenpox (besides, it's a childhood illness, just let the kid get it and get it over with). I am a bellman at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. Our employer was requiring all of us to get the Hepatitis A vaccine. The 'official' reason was because we handle water and ice. I thought that was ridiculous and I refused. The Health District supplied me with a religious exemption with out batting an eye. I asked, they said ok, put it in my file and away I went. No questions asked. Only one other bellman did the same thing as I did. My employer wanted a copy of my paperwork and so far, hasn't given me any problems. You are truly an inspiration. After reading your pages, I have become more comfortable with the decision I made 3 years ago to not vaccinate my daughter. I now have 2 girls and neither have received any shots. It was such a difficult decision at the time and I did not have very much information to back my decision, but in my heart I didn't feel right about putting those poisons into my baby.
